3A Region IV District 30 recap October 1, 2013
Orange Grove extended the longest winning streak in 3A Region IV District 30 this week by beating Lyford, 69-20. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Bulldogs.
Sinton moved up to 325 from 356 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Pirates were able to move up by besting Laredo LBJ 23-0.
Sinton's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Tyler Handson threw for 87 yards and Jared Acosta had 27 yards receiving. On the ground Handson contributed 223 yards.
Handson was a force in the backfield as Tom Allen's team defeated the Wolves.
Handson put up the best numbers in passing as the Pirates defeated Laredo LBJ. Handson's favorite target this week was Acosta, who caught 2 passes for 27 yards.
Sinton's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Pirates feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Handson has thrown for 882 yards and 7 touchdowns this season, while Nick Zepeda has 9 catches for 212 yards. Handson also leads the league in rushing with 934 yards.
Handson has rushed for 934 yards on 113 carries so far this year.
Orange Grove took down the Bulldogs 69-20 last week, the largest margin of any game.
