MaxPreps 2017 Maine preseason high school baseball Fab 5, presented by the Army National Guard

Returning Class A semifinalists Falmouth, Bangor, Edward Little and South Portland are the top teams along with Class B champion Old Town in the Maine baseball #MaxPrepsFab5.

2017 Maine Preseason Baseball Fab 5, presented by the Army National Guard

1. Falmouth
Head coach: Kevin Winship
2016 record: 19-1

Falmouth won 19 straight games before falling to Bangor in the Class A championship game. While State Player of the Year Connor Aube has graduated, Falmouth returns All-State pitcher Cam Guarino and second team All-State twin brothers Robbie Armitage (infield) and Reece Armitage (outfield). Guarino went 10-0 last year while Reece Armitage posted a 7-0 record.

2. Bangor
Head coach: Jeff Fahey
2016 record: 19-1

The Rams won the Class A state championship, winning their final three games by shutout including a semifinal win over Edward Little, the only team to beat Bangor last year. The Rams return one of the state's top pitchers in Peter Kemble, a second team All-State pick.

3. Edward Little (Auburn)
Head coach: Dave Jordan
2016 record: 17-2

The Red Eddies reached the Class A semifinals before falling to eventual champion Bangor. Edward Little has one of the top infielders in the New England area returning in Jarod Norcross-Plourde, who signed to play at Hartford next season.

4. South Portland
Head coach: Mike Owens
2016 record: 16-3

The Red Riots advanced to the Class A semifinals last year, falling to Falmouth. Sam Troiano, an All-State first team outfielder returns. Troiano was the Southern Maine Athletics Association MVP and he is also the team's top returning pitcher.

5. Old Town
Head coach: Brad Goody
2016 record: 19-1

The Coyotes captured the Class B state championship last year with a 12-2 win over Freeport. The title was the first state championship in baseball in school history. Ethan Stoddard, the winning pitcher in last year's state final, returns along with Austin Sheehan. Stoddard and Sheehan were members of the Old Town Senior League team that reached the Senior League World Series in 2015.
