The World Series pits the states of Texas and Missouri against each other, but California figures prominently on rosters of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Texas Rangers.
California has the most high school alumni in the World Series of any state, coming in with six on the Cardinals and five on the Rangers.
The two rosters include 14 foreign-born players, including six from the Dominican Republic, three from Venezuela and two from Japan.
Interestingly, the two players from Japan (Ranger pitchers Yoshinori Tateyama and Koji Uehara) are the only two players in the World Series to play at the same high school. They were teammates at Tokaidai Gyosei High School in Osaka, close to 20 years ago.
Texas has the second-highest total of alumni with six while Missouri and Florida each have three.
Following are the high schools for each of the members on the active rosters for the St. Louis Cardinals and Texas Rangers. Some foreign players did not have a high school listed by either MLB.com or The Baseball Cube.
