Two members of MaxPreps’ Xcellent 25 boys basketball teams were handed their first defeats on Tuesday.
No. 15 Franklin (Seattle, Wash.) was stunned by Bainbridge, 62-60, on a 3-point basket by Paul Weese with 6.8 seconds remaining. Bainbridge was led by 6-foot-10 Ben Eisenhardt, who is headed to Seattle University, with 25 points on 11-of-15 shooting and nine rebounds. Weese added 19 points.
Senior point guard Peyton Siva was held to 12 points on 3-of-11 shooting as Franklin’s record slipped to 13-1.
No. 18 Pershing (Detroit, Mich.) suffered its first loss in 12 outings, 77-76, to Detroit Southeastern. Kimani Boynton sparked the upset with 30 points and eight rebounds. Sophomore Percy Gibson contributed 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Junior guard Keith Appling took game honors with 35 points for Pershing.
