Video: Cleared for takeoff
See Jack Kratcha of Waunakee (WI) track down a ball in deep right-center with a leaping grab. Now that the Nebraska prep baseball season has come to a conclusion, we at MaxPreps have decided to comb through our baseball database and display what we believe are the Top 10 single-game pitching performances this spring in the Cornhusker State.
And we were not disappointed.
Millard South's Kyle Perry leads off this week's Top 10 with what we believe was the top pitching performance in 2017. On May 13, Perry blanked Millard North tossing a seven-inning no-hitter, while walking just four batters and fanning 11. The junior's no-hitter was the only one reported in our database in which someone threw at least seven innings and struck out 10 or more batters.
Perry was the only Nebraska pitcher to make this week's Top 10 twice.
His three-hit shut out against Bellevue West April 3 places him in the
No. 7 slot.
Micah DeHarty of South Sioux City gave up just one hit in seven innings and didn't allow a single run in a 6-0 win over Guardian Angels Central Catholic/Scribner-Snyder/West Point Beemer to take over the No. 2 spot. DeHarty hit a batter and allowed just one walk, while striking out 10 batters in his April 1 performance. Blair's Jacob Garder filled in the No. 3 slot after allowing a hit and shutting out South Sioux City May 6.
In order to be considered for this Top 10, a pitcher had to throw at least seven innings in a game and fan 10 or more batters.
