4A Region III District 17 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Hutto was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from ninth to fifth in 4A Region III District 17. The Hippos vanquished Cedar Creek 69-6 earlier in the week.
East View moved up to 918 from 1,061 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. East View climbed the ranks as a result of a 57-0 win over East View.
Hutto's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Chase Adams threw for 243 and two touchdowns and Darryl Harrison had 109 yards receiving. On the ground Darian Roberts chipped in 106 yards.
Te'Rel Simmons provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Elgin fell to Georgetown. He completed 18 passes for 222 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 90 yards. Simmons' favorite target this week was Kyle Snell, who caught four passes for 85 yards.
The Eagles' Jake Hubenak and Ryan Bedford have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Hubenak has thrown for 943 yards this season, while Bedford, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 21 catches for 391 yards. Steve Hale's team's Roberts leads the league in rushing yards with 413.
A big matchup in 4A Region III District 17 this week will be when Georgetown takes on Manor. Jason Dean's team is currently in first, while the Mustangs are in seventh.
The Eagles extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Wildcats, 31-8. The win marks fourth in a row for the Georgetown.
