It was no surprise to anyone when the Linn-Mar Lions trounced Betterndorf by 20 points in the Iowa state championship game. The Lions had won eight games in a row going into the game including the semi-final playoff game where they beat Urbandale by 23 points.
The Linn-Mar Lions went a very desirable 23-1 on the season, with their only loss coming to Iowa City 48-50 mid way through the year. The Lions did not let that slow them down however, as they rolled through the next nine opponents averaging over 70 points during that span.
On April 11, 2007 MaxPreps took to the road to honor one of the best basketball teams in recent memory with the MaxPreps National Rankings Trophy presented by the Army National Guard. MaxPreps representative Kevin Patrosky greeted the student body and athletes with a laundry list of season accomplishments and introduced Captain Jason Wisehart of the Army National Guard to do the honors. Captain Wisehart presented the MaxPreps Tour of Champions Trophy to Coach Robertson, who in only his second season led the Lions to a state championship.
Jordan Pritney, the Linn-Mar Lions offensive leader, was awarded the coveted T-Mobile Player of the Year Trophy. Jordan is best known for his pin-point and long range shooting accuracy and as a result has earned the name in spanish speaking circles as "La Tres Bomba" or in its english translation, The Three Bomb.
Congratulations Linn-Mar on your oustanding season and we look forward to honoring you again next year!
The Ambassador,
Peter J. De Rogatis
