Selections are based on team success, statistics and local, regional and state honors from the recently completed season. Potential at the college or professional level is not a primary consideration. Players in post-graduate programs are not eligible for inclusion.

Averaged 21.5 points and 3.7 assists per game to lead Patriots to Class 4A state title game against MaxPreps National Player of the Year Jabari Parker and Simeon (Chicago).

NATIONAL SOPHOMORE OF THE YEAR
Malik Newman, Callaway (Jackson, Miss.)
6-2 | 175 | Guard
Last year's freshman POY was at it again as a sophomore, tallying 23 points and 5.3 rebounds per game while leading Chargers to Class 5A state title.

Ivan Rabb, Bishop O'Dowd (Oakland, Calif.)
6-9 | 220 | Forward
MaxPreps Division III first team All-State pick posted more than 22 points and 13 rebounds per game, helping O'Dowd go 26-4 and capture North Coast Section title.

Diamond Stone, Dominican (Whitefish Bay, Wis.)
6-9 | 250 | Center
Already a two-time state champ, put up 16.9 points and 11.6 rebounds per game while reportedly connecting on 77 percent of his field goal attempts.

Stephen Zimmerman, Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas)
6-10 | 210 | Center
First team All-State pick contributed 13.3 points and 11.5 rebounds per game for Division I state champions.
