St. Joseph Regional, the Non-Public Group III champion three of the last four years, stepped up in classification to battle for the Group IV title this year. The Green Knights (8-3) have won only four of their last 12 games against Don Bosco Prep, including a 17-7 loss to the Ironmen in the regular season.
Don Bosco Prep (8-3) is playing for its 15th state title but first since 2011. The Ironmen have won four straight games since an Oct. 23 loss at No. 3 Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas).
Names to watch: Junior linebacker
Louis Acceus is the leading tackler for a St. Joseph Regional defense that allows only 13 points per game. Acceus, a three-star prospect according to 247Sports, had 14 tackles – including three for loss – in a 28-0 opening-round playoff win against St. Augustine (Richland).
