Josh Mathis wasn't going to let his helmet weigh him down.
The
Trenton (Fla.) freshman sprinted toward Blountstown quarterback Dylan Lee in the Class 1A title game.
Lee's pass fell incomplete, clinching a victory for Trenton.
Since it was the game's final play, Mathis did not have to sit out a play for losing his helmet, which is normally the rule.
That play will likely stand as the first and only time Mathis voluntarily removes his helmet during a game.
