Video: Ronnie Bass Jr. highlights
Bass has accounted for 14 touchdowns for undefeated North Myrtle Beach High School in Little River, S.C. It's hard to forget Ronnie "Sunshine" Bass, the charismatic left-handed quarterback who guided the 1971
T.C. Williams (Alexandria, Va.) football team to an undefeated season and state title in the legendary sports movie "Remember The Titans."
The legacy lives on, as
uncovered by Joe L. Hughes of MyrtleBeachOnline.com on Thursday.
Ronnie Bass Jr. of
North Myrtle Beach (Little River, S.C.) plays the same position as his father (the actual player, not 'Titans' actor Kip Pardue) and he's pretty darned good, too. The 6-foot, 160-pound dual-threat quarterback has racked up 638 passing yards, 257 rushing yards, 52 receiving yards and 14 total touchdowns in leading the Chiefs to a spotless 6-0 record and
No. 17 ranking in the state.
As seen above, his video highlights reveal superb quickness, running ability, an
accurate arm and versatility. He even catches a touchdown pass off a
double reverse.
Not too shabby.
The tradition follows the senior wherever he plays.
"It's funny, (last Friday), we were playing Camden High School," Bass Jr. told Hughes. "Right before we are about to snap on the first play, they're over there - the entire (Camden High) student section screaming, `Sun-shine! Sun-shine! Sun-shine!'"
