Mike's Prediction : Don Bosco
Great teams are built on defense. Big plays, sweet runs, and highlight touchdowns are great to watch, and are what fans like Chris and I love to see. Unfortunatly for Bergen, the Don Bosco D does not easily give up points and has made a habit of dominating its opponents. While Phil Simm's son, QB Matt Simms is leading the Bosco towards playoff glory, it is their defense that makes these guys a heavy favorite tomorrow. Notre Dame bound Justin Trattou will lead the way for the Bosco D and create havoc as a run stopper and pass rusher. Look for Bosco to win the battle up front and give their offense great field position throughout the contest. The Bergen D will have to pick their poison of either trying to stop the run attack or the arm of Matt Simms who will attempt to light up the scoreboard.
Chris' Prediction: Don Bosco
To be favored is defined as, "to be in one's advantage" by the Merriam-Webster's dictionary, and today that word symbolizes Don Bosco perfectly against their arch rival Bergen. If you don't have Bosco winning today then you are trying some wishful thinking, because even though Bergen has 16 state championships, this years talent pool is not as strong as those in the past. Matt Bush will not only have to make time for his quarterback Rob Eckrote to throw to Jevon Livingston and room for his running back Dean Scaduto, but will also have to help Anthony Rocchio put preassure on Matt Simms. Disrupting Matt Simms, and stopping Justin Trattou from getting to the QB, will be the keys to a Bergen victory. Saying that, I think it is too big of a task for Bergen and will not be able to put up enough points against this very strong Bosco defense. In the end it will be Don Bosco Prep 35-10 over Bergen
