Holy Trinity (Hicksville, N.Y.) sank the Xaverian Clippers 29-0 in Friday night's CHSFL AAA match up at Kings Bay Field in Brooklyn. Seniors
Chris Olsen and
Wray Fucci led the defense which posted its' third shutout of the season.
The Titans got on the board early when Laviano hooked up with
Nicolas Ferreiro for a touchdown from 14 yards out. The PAT failed leaving Holy Trinity with a 6-0 lead. In the second quarter senior Pat Dreiss hit a 22-yard field goal to extend the lead to 9-0. The Clippers managed only 40 yards in the opening half.
Any thoughts of a Xaverian comeback came to an end when the Titans scored on their first drive of the second half on a 33-yard run by Cotrone. The PAT gave Holy Trinity a 16-0 lead. A 14-yard run by senior Rob Zecker capped off a 10-play, 73-yard drive giving the Titans a commanding 22-0 lead. Cotrone added a 10-yard touchdown run for Holy Trinity in the fourth quarter .
With the win the Titans move to 6-2, 5-2 in CHSFL AAA league play, and will play their first round playoff game next Sunday as the #3 seed versus #6 Mount Saint Michael .
