There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. There's a new number one at the head of the rankings as well as a new caboose.
No Stoppin 'Em
The St. John's offense has been a force to be reckoned with this season, and last week was no different. Everything went its way against Shepherd Hill Regional as it secured a 64 - 24 win. At 40 points, that marked St. John's's largest margin of victory so far this year. At 88 total points, this was the highest scoring power ranking game of the week.
Upcoming Drama
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Xaverian Brothers (25th in the power rankings) and Boston College High (6th). Both teams are coming in hot off of wins in their previous games. Of course, Boston College High and Xaverian Brothers can't both win again this week, so we'll learn on Friday which team falters and which extends its success.
Game of Inches
Things turned out as expected for Lynn English last week -- mostly, at least. The team was expected to win big, but the final result was not so decisive. It can thank its lucky stars for its win over Salem. The final score was a hard-fought 13 - 12. The outcome was a definite jolt of excitement for Lynn English after its previous game, where the margin was anything but close. The razor-thin margin made this game the most thrilling one of the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of the hottest tickets last week involved the clash between Dennis-Yarmouth Regional (5th in the power rankings) and Marshfield (14th). Dennis-Yarmouth Regional had all the answers against Marshfield, winning 43 - 16. As a result, Dennis-Yarmouth Regional rose three spots in the power rankings.
