MaxPreps is pleased to announce that the
Chandler (Ariz.) Wolves have officially been named to the 12th Annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard, which is in its 12th year honoring football.
This is one of the most prestigious team awards in all of high school sports and it is an exclusive honor reserved for the top 100 teams nationwide. In order to be eligible, a team must win a state championship and be highly ranked in the
MaxPreps National Rankings. For football, only 50 of the country's best are invited and with nearly 17,000 competing varsity teams. This puts the Wolves ahead of 99.9 percent of their opponents!
In early September the Chandler Wolves were humiliated by the Mountain Pointe Pride in a lop-sided 52-7 loss but eleven weeks later with the
AIA 6A state championship on the line, the Chandler found its redemption. On Saturday, Nov. 26 the Wolves upset No.10 Mountain Pointe with a 36-17 victory in the Arizona 6A state final fame at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale.
After head coach Shaun Aguano and the Wolves were forced to swallow their second loss of the season against top-ranked Mountain Pointe, they proceeded to dominate in six overpowering wins, followed by four equally impressive postseason wins to earn the program's second state title in three years.
Arizona's 6A champion Chandler (12-2) finished ranked
No.1 in the state,
No.16 in the nation and
No.20 in the MaxPreps Xcellent 25 rankings.
These incredible season achievements have earned the Chandler Wolves an invitation to the 12th Annual Tour of Champions.
Please join us as we celebrate with the football team, coaching staff, students and fans on Friday, Jan. 13 at 7 p.m. during halftime of the boys basketball game in the gym.
