This year's senior crop is especially strong with a number of the ball-handlers from across the state already locked up with top college programs.
10 point guards to watch this season
Chennedy Carter, Mansfield Timberview (Arlington): Chosen as a member of the USA U18 national team in 2016, this 5-9 senior led Timberview to a 33-1 record in 2015-16 when she averaged 18.7 points, five assists and six steals. She is a Texas A&M signee.

Gabby Connally, Brandeis (San Antonio): The 5-7 senior, a Georgia signee, is averaging 25.3 points this season. She is shooting 86 percent from the free throw line and 40 percent behind the 3-point arc.
Katlyn Ghavidel, Boerne-Champion (Boerne): This 5-6 junior is averaging 27 points and 2.9 steals 14 games into this season.
Jordan Hamilton, Liberty (Frisco, Texas): She helped spark Liberty's surprising run to the Class 5A state title game in March. The 5-7 senior, defensive MVP of her district the last two seasons, has signed with Northwestern.
Deja Kelly, Johnson (San Antonio): So promising is the 5-8 freshman, she verbally committed to Texas as a seventh grader. She is averaging 20.3 points in Johnson's 20-3 start to the season.
Alexis Morris, Legacy Christian Academy (Beaumont): The 5-6 senior, a Baylor signee, was selected to the 2015 USA U16 national team. She is averaging 32.6 points per game this season.
Jaden Owens, Plano West (Plano): The 5-6 sophomore, verbally committed to SMU, led the Lady Wolves to the Allen Hoopfest title last month while garnering MVP honors.
Chasity Patterson, North Shore (Houston): The 5-6 senior, a future Texas Longhorn, helped North Shore reach the state tournament last season when she averaged 24 points, five assists and six steals. Her scoring average is 29.7 so far this season.
Addison Ryan, Wakeland (Frisco): The 5-10 junior, a Texas Tech pledge, averaged 14 points and 4.7 rebounds last season.
Kiana Williams, Wagner (San Antonio): The 5-7 senior, a Stanford signee, is averaging 22.4 points, up five points over last season when she was an all-state selection on a 25-11 team.
