MaxPreps Top 25 national high school football rankings

It is getting awfully tight near the top of the Xcellent 25 National Football Rankings presented by the Army National Guard.

No. 1 Washington closed out its season with a state title-winning victory over Bolles, but its spot atop the rankings is not locked in. Allen and St. John Bosco both notched impressive victories over the weekend and could have two significant games left to play.

DeSoto and De La Salle remain in the hunt as well, looking to state their cases with two potential games left.

Washington closed out its perfect season with a 40-21 victory over Bolles.

2. (2) Allen (Texas), 14-0
Allen rolled into the 5A-I semifinals with a 48-13 win over Westfield.

3. (3) St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.), 14-0
With its second victory of the season over Mater Dei, St. John Bosco claimed a Pac-5 title.

4. (4) DeSoto (Texas), 13-0
Game postponed until Monday.

5. (5) De La Salle (Concord, Calif.), 13-0
The Spartans took home the North Coast Section Division I title with a 49-17 win over California.
