2A-1 Region IV District 13 recap September 10, 2013
Florence's Lendell Freeman rumbled for the longest rushing play in 2A-1 Region IV District 13 this season in his game against Thrall last week. Freeman ran for 71 yards on the play and finished with 115 on the day as his team bested the Tigers.
McLane Carter and Davis Little provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Lorena. The connection was good for 69 yards, the longest such play in the league this season.
Salado's dynamic duo of Carter and Kase Spears proved tough for the Leopards to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Carter threw for 613 yards and 8 touchdowns and Spears had 275 yards receiving. Little helped Salado's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 186 yards.
The Eagles' dynamic duo of Carter and Spears proved to be unstoppable against Lorena, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
He was 35-56 with 1 interceptions.
Carter put up the best numbers in passing as Salado lost to Ray Biles' team.
Spears had an awesome week catching the football as Brent Graham's team lost to the Leopards.
Spears was the best wideout in the league this week as the Eagles fell to Lorena.
COBY HERRING was the most successful running back in 2A-1 Region IV District 13 this week. In 9 carries, he ran for 172 yards as Troy lost to the Leopards. KYLE WHITLEY also contributed to the rushing game with 120 yards on the ground.
The Eagles' Carter and Spears have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Carter has thrown for 798 yards this season, while Spears has 18 catches for 331 yards. Traion Smith from Cameron Yoe leads the league in rushing with 346 yards.
Florence moved up to 695 from 776 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Paul Smith's team was able to make move up by beating Thrall 23-0.
