6A Three Rivers recap Oct. 16, 2012
Justen Ruppe and Noah Kyllo provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Clackamas. The connection was good for 80 yards, the longest such play in 6A Three Rivers this season.
Lake Oswego extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Cavaliers, 55-21. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Lakers.
Lake Oswego's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Ruppe threw for 239 and three touchdowns and Connor Griffin had 173 yards receiving. On the ground JB Holmes chipped in 154 yards. Mitch Lomax helped Lake Oswego's passing attack out by catching two balls for 25 yards.
Mehayl Zarkoff made the biggest impact on defense this week as Canby beat Lakeridge. The 5-foot-11 senior racked up one sack.
6-foot-4 quarterback Eric Dungey of the Pacers is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1692. He has also thrown 17 touchdowns. On the ground, Clackamas' Dan Sherrell has rushed for 1233 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Griffin. The Lake Oswego star has 22 catches for 525 yards.
A big matchup in 6A Three Rivers this week will be when Joe Bushman's team takes on Oregon City. The Cavaliers are in third place, while the Pioneers are in second place.
Oregon City suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after topping West Linn. Kevin Strasser's team had been ranked 15th, but fell to 26.
