Northeast Corner recap October 1, 2013
Lakeland extended the longest winning streak in Northeast Corner this week by beating Eastside, 28-14. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Lakers.
West Noble lost to Churubusco 49-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Prairie Heights's dynamic duo of Kyler West and Levi Tuckerman proved tough for Fremont to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. West threw for 94 yards and Tuckerman had 44 yards receiving. Bobbi Blum helped Prairie Heights' passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 29 yards.
Tuckerman was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Panthers topped the Eagles. The 6-foot-0 senior grabbed 3 interceptions.
Brock Noe provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Central Noble bested Howe School. He completed 2 passes for 45 yards and also ran for 131 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Lakeland's WILLIAM KELLY and JOEL MILLER have proven to be a lethal combination. KELLY has thrown for 654 yards this season, while MILLER, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 10 catches for 264 yards. The Blazers' P.J. Dean leads the league in rushing yards with 734.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Fairfield takes on Keith Thompson's team. As it stands, the Falcons are in third, while the Lakers are in first.
There should be lots of points scored when Fairfield and Lakeland face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Bob Miller's team comes in having scored 194 this season, while the Lakers have scored 219. The Falcons scored 53 points last week as they defeated Angola.
