Section 8 Conference IV recap October 29, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Mineola, who defeated 526th ranked Clarke, 33-14.
Peter Falgione and Nestor Haddo provided fans with a highlight when they connected against the Mustangs. The connection was good for 96 yards, the longest such play in Section 8 Conference IV this season.
The Rams' offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Falgione threw for 106 and 1 touchdown and Haddo had 105 yards receiving. On the ground Aaron Dawson contributed 76 yards. Tom Valente helped Clarke's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 27 yards.
Dawson was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 76 yards on 2 carries as Clarke fell to Mineola. Teammate Haddo added to the ground attack by rushing for 18 yards.
Clarke's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Rams feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Falgione has thrown for 371 yards and 4 touchdowns this season, while Haddo has 8 catches for 275 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Locust Valley takes on Roosevelt. As it stands, the Falcons are in fourth, while the Roughriders are in first.
Carle Place was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from 12th to 10th in Section 8 Conference IV. Earlier in the week, the Frogs defeated Cold Spring Harbor 33-14.
