DEFIANCE, Ohio -
Wayne Trace (Haviland, Ohio) jumped out to an early lead against Ayersville (Defiance, Ohio) and never looked back on the way to a 40-6 victory on Saturday.
In the first quarter, the Raiders put up eight points. Wayne Trace scored on a touchdown run by
Jared Sherry.
After taking the lead on a Sherry touchdown run in the first quarter, WT led 24-6 at the half.
The Haviland school grew its lead to 34 points entering the fourth quarter. The Raiders scored four times in the third, including once on a
Colby Spiece touchdown run.
Ayersville's only touchdown came on a defensive touchdown in the second quarter.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 34-0 win for Wayne Trace.
The loss comes after Ayersville defeated Perry 35-12 last week. The loss broke Ayersville's three-game winning streak. With the win WT extended its winning streak to four games.
In a Green Meadows game next week Ayersville (3-1) takes on Fairview, and Wayne Trace (4-0) will go up against Holgate also in a Green Meadows game.
