Woodcreek (Roseville, Calif.) kept up a steady attack all game long to upset
Oakmont (Roseville, Calif.), 37-13, on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Isaiah Harbarth in the first quarter, the Timberwolves led 27-7 at the half.
Woodcreek expanded its lead to 30 points entering the fourth quarter. WHS scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by Harbarth.
The result came as a big surprise as the Vikings came in ranked No. 283 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for California, while the Timberwolves were ranked No. 547.
A 38-28 Woodcreek victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
The win was a nice bounce back for WHS, which lost to Casa Roble last week, 50-24. The loss comes after Oakmont defeated Whitney 27-21 last week. The loss broke Oakmont's two-game winning streak. The win broke Woodcreek's two-game losing streak.
Woodcreek (1-2) goes up against Antelope in a non-conference game matchup next week, while Oakmont (2-1) locks horns with Roseville also in a non-conference game.
