South Central recap October 29, 2013
Greenville extended the longest winning streak in South Central this week by beating Vandalia, 63-34. The win marks ninth in a row for the the Comets.
Pana made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,476 from 9,123. The improvement was largely due to a 40-0 victory over Hillsboro last week.
Kinney Myles was a force in the backfield as Carlinville bested Litchfield.
Charlie Sheets was a key player and the best on defense this week as Roxana defeated Southwestern. The 6-foot-4 senior racked up 2 sacks.
Myles provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Cavaliers beat the Purple Panthers. Myles' favorite target this week was Thad Roberts, who caught 2 passes for 31 yards.
Myles was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 222 yards on 15 carries as Carlinville fell to Gillespie. Teammate Joeb Easterday added to the ground attack by rushing for 106 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, the Bulldogs' Jake Bruhn and Sitko have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-10 quarterback Bruhn has thrown for 750 yards this season, while Sitko has 24 catches for 411 yards. Chad Easterday's team's Myles leads the league in rushing yards with 1,500.
Greenville led South Central in scoring this week by notching 63 points on the Vandals.
