1A-2 Region II District 6 recap October 29, 2013
Texas Leadership Charter Academy extended the longest winning streak in 1A-2 Region II District 6 this week by beating Eldorado, 28-7. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Eagles.
Texas Leadership Charter Academy took down the Eagles 28-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Brandon Garcia ran for 214 yards in the win.
Eldorado's dynamic duo of Bailey Espinosa and Dominique Ochoa proved to be unstoppable against Johnny Burleson's team, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Espinosa threw for 38 yards and Ochoa had 10 yards receiving. Justin Ochoa helped Eldorado's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 15 yards.
Garcia was a beast in the backfield as the Eagles bested Bryan Green's team.
Chris Garcia was a key player and the best on defense this week as Texas Leadership Charter Academy defeated the Eagles. The 5-foot-7 junior nabbed 1 interception.
Garcia provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Eagles bested Eldorado.
Christoval's Jakob Whitworth and Mitchell Lane have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-0 quarterback Whitworth has thrown for 1,839 yards this season, while Lane has 37 catches for 525 yards. Texas Leadership Charter Academy's Garcia leads the league in rushing yards with 967.
Entering into this week's contest against Menard, Whitworth is short just 161 passing yards to break 2,000 on the season.
Garcia of the the Eagles is only 33 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 136 carries Garcia has accumulated 967 yard this year.
As it stands, the Yellowjackets are in third, while Christoval is in second.
Justin Taylor's team made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,667 from 7,752.
