Upcoming Drama
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Kennebunk (2nd in the power rankings) and Marshwood (1st). Both teams are coming in hot off of wins in their previous games. With each team boasting a good deal of offensive firepower (Marshwood has seven high-flying games in a row, Kennebunk four), it will be interesting to see who can run the score up higher.
Big Showdown
It was a battle of top-notch squads when Leavitt (6th in the power rankings) took on Cape Elizabeth (17th) last week. Even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Leavitt beat Cape Elizabeth 19 - 14. The win raised Leavitt up two spots in the power rankings.
Can't Touch This
Mountain Valley gave both Old Orchard Beach and its quarterback (sacked ten times) a rough time last week. Mountain Valley scooted by Old Orchard Beach with a score of 22 - 6. Mountain Valley found its leader in an underclassman: Dylan Desroches ran for 220 yards and also punched in two touchdowns, which was enough to make him the team's best player. In fact, our algorithms singled out Desroches as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
No Stoppin 'Em
There were a lot of high-scoring contests in the power rankings last week, but the 110-point effort in this one put it right at the top of the list. Biddeford came out on top in a nail-biter against Skowhegan, sneaking past 56 - 54. Nevertheless, Biddeford did not have enough punch to impress the power rankings algorithm and slipped one spot in the rankings.
