Mission Viejo (Calif.) received a huge boost from its defense against Westlake (Westlake Village, Calif.), as the unit scored 18 in defeating Westlake (Westlake Village, Calif.), 42-10.
After taking the lead on a
Garrett Marino touchdown run in the first quarter, the Diablos led 28-3 at the half.
Mission Viejo saw its 25-point halftime lead fall to 18 entering the fourth.
MV secured its victory by scoring 14 points in the fourth quarter to push the final margin to 32.
Alex Egurbide made a difference for the Warriors. The junior wide receiver caught one touchdown. He has now scored 10 touchdowns on the season.
Westlake's lone touchdown came on an 8-yard pass from Neil Uskali to Egurbide in the third quarter.
Led by
Max Redfield, the Diablos went into the matchup giving up only 15.1 points per game. The 10 points that WHS ended with were well below its average of 28.0 coming into the game.
