Plano (Texas) boys soccer coach Bob Weir reached another lofty milestone in his outstanding career when the Wildcats blanked Richardson (Texas), 3-0.
It marked the 500th career victory for Weir, who began coaching in 1978. He has had just two losing seasons during his 35-year tenure.
Weir has won a Texas-record six state championships and in 2009 he was named National Soccer Coach of the Year by the National Federation of State High School Associations.
The 60-year-old coach also had a Gatorade National Boys Soccer Player of the Year, Dillon Powers, in the 2008-09 school year. Powers now is a junior at the University of Notre Dame.
