Quay Evans, the nation's No. 44 recruit and one of the country's premier defensive tackles, committed to Mississippi State this evening according to multiple reports.
The 6-foot-3, 310-pound Evans from
Morton (Miss.) is the nation's No. 4 defensive tackles, behind only Ellis McCarthy, Eddie Goldman and Malcolm Brown.
As a junior, Evans forced six fumbles and made eight sacks to go along with 80 tackles. This season, he's been responsible for 72 tackles and 4.5 sacks.
With his commitment, Evans instantly becomes the centerpiece to a Mississippi State recruiting class that otherwise lacks star power. It now appears well stocked with interior defensive linemen as Evans joins Nick James and Jordan Washington to give head coach Dan Mullen three big run-stoppers in the middle.
