Welcome
Upper St. Clair gave both Chartiers Valley and its quarterback (sacked four times) a rough time last week. Even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Upper St. Clair beat Chartiers Valley 38 - 31. One of the main ringleaders for Upper St. Clair was senior Antonio Orsini, who ran for 86 yards and also punched in two touchdowns. The win also thrust Upper St. Clair into the power rankings, where the team now holds the 24th spot.
No Stoppin 'Em
It was another game, another high-octane performance for St. Joseph's Prep last week (their 4th in a row). It picked up a decisive 'W' against Father Judge, finishing up at 69 - 14. The Father Judge defense has struggled this season (giving up an average of 36 points per game), and St. Joseph's Prep took advantage of that. The combined 83-point effort made this the highest-scoring game in the power rankings for the week.
Game of Inches
Downingtown West made away with the most precarious victory of the week when it squared off against Bishop Shanahan. The game was as close as could be, but Downingtown West ended up on top with a 14 - 13 over Bishop Shanahan. Despite Downingtown West's win, the team was passed up by other teams in the power rankings and gave up two spots in the rankings.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between North Allegheny (5th in the power rankings) and Pine-Richland (4th). Both teams are entering with last-week wins under their belts. Only one team will win this week, so we'll find out on Friday which team fails to repeat its success.
