Forget the fact the UIL 6A state basketball title was on the line for
Plano West (Texas). Or that there were 10,000 people at Alamodome. Or that Plano West was the heavy favorite and a loss would have been catastrophic to him and his teammates.
Hogg, a 6-foot-8 Texas A&M signee, had made four three-pointers to cap a 10-point rally and tie the score at 50. He even drew a charge to set up Plano West's last possession.
His 18-footer gave Plano West a 56-54 win over Clear Lake. Hogg, who scored 22 points, told Matt Wixon of the
Dallas Morning News it was his first game-winning buzzer-beater. Ever. And it was Plano West's first state crown as well.
"The first game-winner, and it's at state," said Hogg. "It's crazy."
