Woodbridge were the big favorite in their most recent match, and for good reason. They took their match against Cambridge-South Dorchester on Friday by a conclusive 49-20 score. That result is just more of the same for Woodbridge, who also won the last time these teams played.
Woodbridge's offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 42 points in the first half. Cambridge-South Dorchester came up with 7 to make it 42-7 heading into the break. Woodbridge were outperformed in the second half 7-13 but had enough in reserve to walk away with the win.
Senior Jamon Kane, who rushed for 141 yards and 2 touchdowns, was a major factor in Woodbridge's success. One of the most memorable plays of the matchup was Kane's 66-yard touchdown rush in the first quarter. Senior Troy Haynes was in the mix, too, providing Woodbridge with 3 touchdowns. The victory got they out to a 1-0 start for the season. The loss dropped Cambridge-South Dorchester back to even at 1-1.
Next week Woodbridge take on Dover at 7:00 PM. Cambridge-South Dorchester will be staying on the road, facing off against North Caroline.
