The MaxPreps travel team made its next stop to Novi, Michigan, a northwest suburb of Detroit to honor the
Novi High School girls volleyball team on the 11th Annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard. The tour is in its sixth year honoring the finest girls volleyball teams in the country.

The Wildcats capped off their impressive 54-2 season with a "three games to one" victory over Romeo to bring home the school's first state championship. Novi’s final victory secured them a spot in the nation's elite according to the sophisticated MaxPreps Computer Rankings system. According to MaxPreps, the Lady Wildcats finished ranked No. 17 in the entire nation with over 13,000 schools considered.
On Friday night, Jan. 22 the Novi High School gymnasium was packed with nearly 1000 fans and booster members. The travel team arrived about an hour early to prepare the trophy display just outside the gymnasium. The Army National Guard national ranking trophy is quite an impressive piece of hardware that is only be awarded to ten girls volleyball teams across the country.
Sergeant Montague of the Michigan Army National Guard was on site to award the trophy between the JV and Varsity basketball games. Sergeant Montague presented head coach Jennifer Cottrill with the prestigious Minuteman trophy. Coach Cottrill, along with her husband serving as her assistant coach, have done a tremendous job laying the groundwork for a winning culture for Wildcat volleyball.
