The Webb Schools (9-2) has a real challenge coming up -- the hardest it has met all year. Both it and La Quinta (10-1) have made it this far into the playoffs, but they square off this Thursday at 7:00 PM to determine who is worthy to move on. The Webb Schools is coming into the game hot, having won six in a row.
The Webb Schools didn't have too many spare points last week in its contest with California Military Institute, but it still walked away with a 28 - 21 win. Two standouts for The Webb Schools were senior Ryan Place and junior Nick Johnson; the former rushed for 84 yards and two touchdowns while the latter threw for 261 yards and two touchdowns. This sound performance was nothing new for Johnson, who has been a rock for The Webb Schools in the past six games. Junior Jj Cunningham was in the mix too, providing The Webb Schools with two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, La Quinta claimed a 28 - 15 victory over Savanna last week. Senior Tony Ta was a big part of the win as his strong performance led the charge (he earned two touchdowns and 109 yards rushing the ball).
The last time they met, La Quinta was the clear winner with a 41 - 19 finish. The Webb Schools was already in too deep by the half, where the score was 34 - 0. Can La Quinta repeat its success? We'll find out this Thursday.
