2A Special District 1 recap October 29, 2013
Fans got a thrill when CJ Maxwell and Garrett Litterell connected against Myrtle Point. The longest such play in 2A Special District 1 this season, the connection resulted in 72 yards.
Gold Beach extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Bobcats, 50-15. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Gold Beach's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Maxwell threw for 186 and 1 touchdown and Litterell had 124 yards receiving. On the ground Colton Pearson contributed 94 yards. Dustin Carter helped Gold Beach's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 35 yards.
Maxwell put up the best numbers through the air as Kevin Swift's team topped Myrtle Point. Maxwell's favorite target this week was Litterell, who caught 4 passes for 124 yards.
Gold Beach's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Panthers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Maxwell has thrown for 915 yards and 7 touchdowns this season, while Litterell has 29 catches for 436 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Marty Stallard's team takes on Reedsport. At the moment, the Bobcats are in fourth, while the Braves are in first.
The Panthers led 2A Special District 1 in scoring this week after putting up 50 points on Myrtle Point. Maxwell ran for 71 yards during the win.
