CLAXTON, Ga. -
Claxton (Ga.) jumped out to an early lead against
Treutlen (Soperton, Ga.) and never looked back on the way to a 28-7 victory on Saturday.
The Tigers put up six points in the opening quarter. Claxton scored on a touchdown run by
Khalil Brewton.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by Brewton in the first quarter, CHS was up 6-0 at the half.
The Tigers expanded their lead to 21 points entering the fourth quarter. Claxton scored three times in the third, including once on a
Cornelius Taylor touchdown pass to
Tanner Lee.
Treutlen's lone touchdown came on a 1-yard run in the fourth quarter.
The win was a nice bounce back for CHS, which lost to Tattnall County last week, 9-6. The loss comes after Treutlen defeated Savannah Country Day 35-3 last week.
Claxton (1-1) goes up against Emanuel County Institute in a non-conference game matchup next week, while Treutlen (1-2) locks horns with Strong Rock Christian also in a non-conference game.
