B District 3 (8 Man) recap Oct. 9, 2012
Rejoice Christian extended the longest winning streak in B District 3 (8 Man) this week by beating Watts, 62-0. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Eagles.
Welch was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fifth in the league. Earlier in the week, the Wildcats defeated Copan 46-0.
South Coffeyville's dynamic duo of Wyatt Armstrong and Zach Cantrell proved tough for Riverfield Country Day to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Armstrong threw for 72 yards and one touchdown and Cantrell had 44 yards receiving. Dillon Harrington helped South Coffeyville's passing attack out by catching one ball for 28 yards.
Fidel Simpson was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 244 yards on 15 carries as Coyle beat the Ravens. Ryan Weathers also contributed to the rushing game with 112 yards on the ground.
South Coffeyville's Armstrong and Harrington have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading B District 3 (8 Man) in both passing and receiving yards. Armstrong has thrown for 640 yards this season, while Harrington, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 11 catches for 296 yards. Simpson from the Bluejackets leads the league in rushing with 659 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Welch takes on Craig Hood's team. At the moment, Ryan Gleaves' team is in fifth, while the Lions are in first.
Woodland made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 492 from 600. The advance stemmed from a 46-6 victory over Oaks-Mission last week.
