Clyde (4-2) takes on Early (3-3) this Friday at 7:30 PM. Both teams are tiptoeing into their contest after sneaking past their previous opponents.
Clyde's encounter with Coleman three weeks ago was a 38-point stomp, but the result last week was anything but. Clyde came out on top in a nail-biter against Merkel last week, sneaking past 23 - 21. No one had a larger role in the success than junior Payton Burton, who brought his A game into the contest. He ran for 132 yards and also punched in two touchdowns. Burton has been a consistent playmaker for Clyde as this was the 3rd good game in a row from him. Additional support came from sophomore Bo Baker, a defensive powerhouse who racked up 14 tackles.
Meanwhile, Early won a game last week that couldn't get any closer, slipping by Brady 38 - 37. The high-scoring offensive effort was a definite turnaround from Early's flat performance last game.
The last time they met, Clyde really took it to Early, winning 72 - 14. Clyde had a lot of yards that game (535) and will likely be setting its aim high again. Can it repeat its success? We'll find out this Friday.
