LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Senior
Annie Oakley of
Strasburg (Strasburg, Colo.) High School was selected this week's MaxPreps/NFCA NationalHigh School Player of the Week for contests played Oct. 19-25.
Garnering the final weekly accolade this fall, Oakley helped the Indians capture the 3A state championship and finish 2015 with a perfect 23-0 record. In three games over the weekend at Aurora Sport Park, Oakley hit .700 (7-10) with four doubles, five RBI and three runs scored. The senior catcher capped off her high school career, going 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI in the title game against Eaton. Her two-run single, which doubled the Indians' lead to 7-3 in the sixth, proved to be the difference as Strasburg held on for a 7-5 triumph and its third state title in the last four seasons.
Oakley knocked in two runs and went 3-for-3 in a 7-2 state quarterfinal victory over the Academy and added two doubles, a RBI and run scored during an 11-0 win against Brush in the semifinals.
The award returns in late February to honor the outstanding play for the 2016 spring season.
MaxPreps, the official high school statistical provider of the NFCA, provides all statistics for the NFCA High School Player of the Week award. To nominate a player for the award, the coach must enter his or her athlete's game stats into MaxPreps by Sunday evening to be eligible for that week's award.
The MaxPreps/NFCA High School Players of the Week are announced on NFCA.org every Monday during the spring season, with one representative chosen from each of five separate high school regions. During the fall campaign, just a single player will be selected representing all participating regions.

Coaches who enter their team's stats on Max Preps will not only be nominating their players for this award, but they will be getting their team's information out to thousands of high school sports fans, as well as college coaches across the country.
