Farmington found success last week, but it has a real challenge ahead. It and Artesia face off this Saturday at 1:00 PM to determine whose season will come to a close. Farmington has been tearing up the end zone with big points in its last six contests.
Farmington can now show off seven landslide victories after its most recent game. It breezed past Los Lunas last week with a final score of 41 - 14. Farmington received a great game from senior Isaiah Jaramillo, who passed for 317 yards. Jaramillo has also now scored at least one touchdown in the past four consecutive games. Senior Jacob Brown was another big-time player for Farmington. He tacked on four touchdowns to Farmington's score.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was exactly Artesia's strategy in dealing with St. Pius X last week. Artesia took its game against St. Pius X by a confident 47 - 14 score. Senior Taylor Null* must have eaten his Wheaties that morning because he passed for 359 yards in the win. Null* supplied the game with one of its most unforgettable moments, a 62-yard punt return for a touchdown in the first quarter. Null* should be a familiar name as he has been a major contributor for Artesia in the past 11 games.
Their wins bumped Artesia to 9-2 and Farmington to 8-3. Farmington and Artesia will be experiencing extra pressure in this one since they are each in the midst of a winning streak (six wins for each). We'll see which team can handle the heat this Friday.
