Pahranagat Valley (Alamo, Nev.) defeated Wells (Nev.) 54-8 Friday to break the all-time national 8-man record for consecutive wins with No. 94, according to the National Federation of State High School Associations record book.
The streak began over eight years ago when the Panthers, coincidentally, defeated Wells 42-12 on Aug. 29, 2008. Since then, Pahranagat Valley has won 94 straight, breaking the mark of 93 in a row set by Shattuck (Okla.) between 2003 and 2009.
Wells has been snakebit by Pahranagat Valley lately, losing last year's baseball and softball state championship games to the Panthers. Wells has also lost to the Panthers seven times during the 94-game streak.
Next up for Pahranagat Valley is a shot at 100 straight wins. If the Panthers continue to pile on the wins, No. 100 could come on Oct. 14 against Indian Springs.
Pahranagat Valley will have to get past Thacher (Ojai, Calif.) next week to keep the streak alive. The Panthers only defeated Thacher 34-30 last year. That's the closest game they've have had during the streak.
