Scouting report: The Patriots are seven points away from seeking a three-peat in Pennsylvania's AAAA classification. That was the losing margin in last year's title game against Plymouth Whitemarsh – a team Penn Wood beat three weeks earlier.
That disappointment should serve as motivation for this year's team led by Brown, a sturdy wing-forward who averaged 18.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.
The frontcourt appears set with the massive Oakman (9.9 points, 9.6 rebounds per game) and Barnes. The question mark for the southeastern Pennsylvania power is in the backcourt, where Will Brown and Tyree Johnson were responsible for helping the program go 55-8 over the past two seasons.
Expect Brown to spend more time on the perimeter in combination with Smith, Richardson and promising sophomores Price and Reddick.
The Patriots will participate in the Chick-Fil-A Classic in South Carolina and the Burger King Classic in Erie, Pa. Other high-profile opponents include Rice, Chester, Winter Park at St. Benedict's Prep.
