This week, Oklahoma School for the Deaf and New Mexico School for the Deaf square off against each other on Friday at 1:00 PM. Each team is hoping that this match will help them forget substantial defeats in their prior games.
Oklahoma School for the Deaf had a rough outing against Mississippi School for the Deaf last week, losing 46 - 0. Oklahoma School for the Deaf unfortunately couldn't repeat the imposing 74-point effort it came up with in its previous game.
As for New Mexico School for the Deaf, it simply didn't have it last week, losing 81 - 41 to Roy/Mosquero. The defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of junior Daniel Guerra and junior Jacob Stevens, though; the former ran for 66 yards and also punched in one touchdown, and the latter picked up 87 yards on the ground. Stevens was also an imposing presence on the defensive end with 14 tackles.
After their losses, New Mexico School for the Deaf dropped to 2-2 and Oklahoma School for the Deaf dropped to 1-5. Both Oklahoma School for the Deaf and New Mexico School for the Deaf have been struggling on the defensive side of the ball (the former allowing an average of 42 points per game, the latter an average of 36 points per game). We'll find out which offense can take advantage of this fact when the two teams meet this week.
