On Feb. 16 the 12th Annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard traveled to the East Coast to honor the
Troy (N.Y.) High School football team. Troy won its New York State Championship at the Carrier Dome
over the Victor football team by a close margin, 21-20. The Flying Horses were ranked nationally by MaxPreps out of more than 15,000 football teams nationwide and MaxPreps also ranked them No. 1 in New York.
Danielle Ferrante from MaxPreps kicked off the presentation festivities by congratulating the Troy players and coaches on a fantastic season and called out some of their amazing stats during the 2016 season, including their unblemished 13-0 record. They also won the state championship and claimed No. 1 spot in New York!
Ferrante then handed the microphone over to Sergeant First Class Hicks of the New York Army National Guard, and Troy High School alum and 2000 graduate, for the presentation of the Army National Guard national ranking

trophy and the MaxPreps nationally ranked rafter banner. SFC Hicks described how the team demonstrated character, hard work, dedication and excellence which are all attributes of the men and women in the Army National Guard.
He recounted his time as a Troy High School football player. He then presented the coveted trophy and banner to Coach Bob Burns, to a loud applause. The team and coaching staff thanked MaxPreps and the New York Army National Guard for this outstanding honor. Troy is one of only 50 football teams in the country to receive the award!
