2A-1 Region I District 3 recap October 22, 2013
Bangs scaled the state rankings by moving to 550 from 584 this week, the biggest jump in 2A-1 Region I District 3. The Dragons were able to move up by beating Early 35-18.
Grape Creek lost to Comfort 48-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Terayce Preston was a bright spot for the Eagles, as he ran for 229 yards in the defeat.
Bangs' dynamic duo of JT Newton and Tanner Shaw proved tough for the Longhorns to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Newton threw for 233 yards and 3 touchdowns and Shaw had 111 yards receiving. Josh Truelove helped Bangs' passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 88 yards.
Preston was a force in the backfield as Grape Creek lost to the Bobcats/Deer.
He was 13-23 with 2 interceptions.
Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when Kyle Atwood's team's Robert Aly goes up against Ingram Moore's Bryson Barnet.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Comfort takes on Chuck Lipsey's team. As it stands, Michael harbuck's team is in second, while the Dragons are in fourth.
Brady and the Warriors played the closest game in the league this week, with Brady eventually emerging with a 13-7 victory.
