Bloomfield (7 - 0) takes on Northwest Catholic (4 - 3) this Saturday at 1:30 PM. So far, Bloomfield has not lost a single game.
Bloomfield scooted by East Catholic last week with a score of 28 - 12. Senior wide receiver Russell Thompson-bishop provided the team with an impressive 125 receiving yards in the victory. Thompson-bishop has been a consistent playmaker for Bloomfield as this was the fourth 3rd good game in a row from him.
As for Northwest Catholic, it brought some tenacious defense (the best it has had all year) into its match. It claimed a 13 - 0 victory over Avon last week. Junior running back Spencer Merkel deserves a lot of the credit as he ran for 130 yards and also punched in two touchdowns. This marked the 3rd consecutive game in which Merkel had more than 100 rushing yards.
The last time they met, Bloomfield was the 34 - 0 victor. Unfortunately for Northwest Catholic, another blowout is expected given the large disparity in their rankings. Will Bloomfield repeat its success? We'll find out this Saturday.
