Noxubee County may have come out ahead in its last game, but it shouldn't get too cocky given who is up next. Both it and East Central have made it this far into the playoffs, but they square off this Saturday at 3:00 PM to determine who is worthy to move on. Noxubee County is coming into the game hot, having won eight in a row.
Even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Noxubee County beat Louisville 35 - 28 last week. No one had a larger role in the success than senior Armoni Clark, who brought his A game into the contest. He tossed the ball for 197 yards and three TDs. This sound performance was nothing new for Clark, who has been a rock for Noxubee County in the past nine games. Senior Rashad Eades got in on the action, too, by scoring two touchdowns.
As for East Central, it snuck past Poplarville with a 52 - 45 victory last week. Senior Tony Brown continued his outstanding stretch of play as he rushed for 204 yards in the win, marking his 13th consecutive game with over 100 yards rushing. Brown supplied the game with one of its most unforgettable moments, a 90-yard punt return for a touchdown in the second quarter. Brown has also now scored at least one touchdown in the past 13 consecutive games. On the defensive end, senior Andrew Seward stood out -- in part because he laid his opponents low with 19 tackles.
Their wins bumped East Central to 13-0 and Noxubee County to 10-4. Keep an eye on the score because it could get pretty high: both East Central and Noxubee County have scored a lot of points in their past games (nine in a row for East Central and eight in a row for Noxubee County).
