Within a day of verbally committing to play for the University of Nebraska,
Darien Bryant of North (Pickerington, Ohio) has de-committed, according to Panthers coach Tom Phillips.
One of the top tight ends remaining in the 2011 recruiting class, Bryant said Thursday that he'd told the Cornhuskers he'd be signing a letter of intent to play for them next February.
"He got cold feet," Phillips said. "He went home and didn't feel like he made the right decision."
Bryant previously took official visits to North Carolina and Hawaii, and Hawaii and Nebraska remain high on Bryant's list according to Phillips.
A 6-foot-4, 220-pounder who also starred at defensive end for the Panthers, Bryant has 19 Division I offers. One of those is from West Virginia, whose campus is located within minutes of where he was born.
Other schools which have offered Bryant include Purdue, Illinois, Michigan and Michigan State from the Big Ten, Maryland and Duke from the ACC and Kansas from the Big 12.
