The Ripon Christian Knights baseball team scored 4 points and limited the visiting Escalon Cougars to 2 in the Knights league victory on Thursday.

The Knights (6-4) will now prepare for their match against Gustine (Gustine, CA). The Redskins go into the non-league match with a 3-4 record. In their last match, Gustine by Livingston (Livingston, CA), 4-0, in a league match.

The Cougars (8-2) will now prepare for their match against Modesto (Modesto, CA). The Panthers go into the non-league bout with a 3-8 record. In their last bout, Modesto by Johansen (Modesto, CA), 17-8, in a league bout.

RC opened the scoring in the first inning on a double by Aaron Fay and a RBI single off the bat of Clayton Prins. The score stayed 1-0 until the fourth when Escalon answered with a pair of runs on a walk, a stolen base, an error and a sacrifice fly. Pitching dominated for both sides until the sixth inning as Robbie De Vries for RC and Matthew Valencia put up zeroes on the score board. In the bottom of the sixth, Steve Van Der Molen led off with his second double of the day and Aaron Fay followed with his second hit, a single to right field. Clayton Prins then delivered a sacrifice foul fly to right field to score Van Der Molen with the tying run. Though Fay was thrown out trying to advance to third, Arie Den Dulk followed with a double to left field, Elijah English legged out an infield hit and Justin Lemoine followed with his second RBI single in two days. When the dust settled, De Vries had thrown his second complete game of the year and boosted RC into first place in the TVL.
