The Lucerne Valley Mustangs baseball team (Lucerne Valley, CA), 8-5 in Tuesday's non-league outing with the visiting Trona Tornadoes (Trona, CA)

The Tornadoes now hold a 1-0 record. They put it on the line next when they host Silver Valley for a non-league outing on Friday, March 13. Trona will confront a Trojans team coming off a 7-3 non-league loss to Mojave (Mojave, CA). The Trojans record now stands at 0-1.

Next, the Mustangs confront the Boron Bobcats (Boron, CA) in a non-league outing, on Friday, March 13. Lucerne Valley will attempt to advance on its 1-2 season record. The Bobcats go into the outing with a 1-0 record after their 11-7 non-league win over Immanuel Christian (Ridgecrest, CA).

The Mustangs got the Foster's FREEZE and still almost pulled off a comeback. Freshman Foster tamed the Mustang bats early. The Mustangs defense and lack of fielding on the mound gave the Tornadoes four easy runs. The Mustangs finally woke up in the bottom of the 5th thanks to spark plug Matt Meadows. The Mustangs went ahead in the bottom of the 6th 5-4. Then the Tornadoes led off the 7th top half with a double. It was followed by a great pick off by D. Cooper. The next out was a come backer to the pitcher. Then with two outs and the bases empty a critical walk opened the door and the Tornadoes blew through it! One long out later the Tornadoes had put four on the board. In the bottom of the 7th the Mustangs got the winning run up to the plate but couldn't pull the trigger! Mustangs head out to the Boron Tournament this Friday and Saturday. Next up for Trona is Silver Valley.
